A green thumb and a growing interest in organic gardening ultimately led Dr. Dave Epstein to live a life beyond his wildest dreams. But not before he spent years laying the foundation for what was to become Earth Solutions. With undergraduate degrees in psychology and art, Dr. Dave acquired his medical license from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. With a family practice residency under his belt he opened a neighborhood health clinic in Atlanta, Georgia practicing natural and alternative medicine. He loved the challenge of working closely with patients to alleviate their need for prescription medications.
As part of his organic gardening efforts, Dr. Dave had begun using an oxygenating soil conditioner which had been developed fifty years earlier by Everett Story. The all nutrient concentrate with hydrogen and oxygen turned the red Georgia clay into a rich loamy soil that produced amazingly hearty vegetables! Dr. Dave wanted to share this organic alternative to farming with others so Earth Solutions was born.
In an interesting twist a patient with severe acne came to see Dr. Dave for treatment. Perplexed as to how to successfully treat the acne, he thought about his nutrient concentrate and decided to mix a small amount with aloe vera and apply the solution to the affected areas. To the delight of both he and his patient, her skin was clear in a matter of days. With further research and testing Dr. Dave developed DermAlive, a cosmeceutical line of natural skin care products used to sooth and manage a range of skin conditions that benefit by nourishing the skin with the entire range of cellular minerals, enzymes and amino acids.
Earth Solutions has since broadened its focus to include aromatherapy oils and accessories to benefit the mind, body and spirit in keeping with Dr. Dave’s holistic philosophy. The company supports farming cooperatives that cultivate and distill their own plant extracts providing the highest quality ingredients for the skin care and aromatherapy products. Every effort is made to ensure long-term quality using chemical-free ingredients.
Concern for others and attention to detail is evident from the artistic packaging designed by folk artists and the implementation of a work initiative that allows stay-at-home moms to package product in their homes, to product displays handcrafted by local metal sculptors. The company is continually working to minimize their ecological footprint in all facets of their business. In the office and warehouse they use recycled paper and recycle office materials. Aside from the skin care and aromatherapy products which are made from renewable resources, product packaging is printed on recycled paper with linseed oil inks and care is taken to use minimal packaging across all product lines.
