What do you get when you mix industrial strength reclaimed steel and a determined artist with remarkable talent and cosmic imagination? One Eighty eco-inspired Design, that’s what!
Meet Tammy Roy of Stratford, Wisconsin, dumpster diving artist extraordinaire. Her designs aren’t just art for the sake of art. They fit the modern-day ethic of less-is-more~where fine art meets full-on function and they live together, happily.
Tactile, powerful, stunning, distinctive, organic, and spiritual in nature are some of the words that we expressed when some of Tammy’s pieces arrived in our warehouse. Artistic talent aside, a day in the life of Tammy Roy might include a visit to one of the many local steel manufacturers that have come to know her through her foraging activities in their scrap yards. Arriving undaunted in long pants, sturdy shoes and work gloves Tammy sets out climbing the mountains of twisted and mangled steel collecting waste and scrap pieces like a pro. Tammy can easily spend all day at this, deftly plucking pieces of rebar and rusted machinery that inspire her.
The entire process for Tammy, from dumpster diving to the finished product, is completely intoxicating. Doing anything else is not even imaginable.
