Certified organic by CCOF, Cocopura Extra Virgin Raw Coconut Oil is hand-pressed in small batches by coconut farmers on the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. The naturally fresh aroma of the coconut is retained through a method of extraction called Direct Micro Expelling (DME). DME is an approach that can only be achieved on a small scale. Small family run farms are employed to accomplish the expelling process right on the farm using age-old hand-pressing techniques. With DME the oil is quickly and efficiently extracted from the coconut within 1 hour of opening the nut. All of this results in the production of a truly raw cold-pressed full-flavor coconut oil of vastly superior quality, and heavenly aroma. Additionally, DME provides employment to local people in rural areas—men and women of all ages. Coconut oil production can take place year round in virtually any weather. The DME process is fully sustainable and does not intrude on the timber resources or use non-renewable fuels.
