Piggy Paint “Fight Breast Cancer” Kid-Friendly Nail Polish & Remover Gift Set

One in every eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. According to the American Cancer Society, “Excluding cancers of the skin, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for nearly 1 in 4 cancers diagnosed in US women.” It is estimated in 2009 that over 190,000 new cases will be diagnosed among American women. More than 40,000 will not survive.
The good news is that breast cancer death rates have been on the decline since 1990! The larger decreases tend to be women younger than fifty. Researchers attribute declines to early detection through screening and improvements in treatment.
Add to that the millions of dollars in research that are contributed each year by National organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists in the world…which in turn has grown into the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer worldwide!
Among numerous other fundraising events that the American Cancer Society sponsors, its Relay For Life is one of the most successful. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life is a 24 hour life-changing event that gives everyone in local communities a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.
Without these and other treasured resources, the statistics that we are presented with from year to year would most certainly look much less optimistic.
Support for the almost 3 million survivors and ongoing research funding comes in many other forms as well. Throughout the year in communities large and small across the US, there are local businesses and individuals uniting in the continuing battle against breast cancer, raising dollars and awareness to fight this insidious disease.
One such company is our own Piggy Paint! We are happy to represent this amazing line of nail products AND extremely proud to offer Piggy Paint's Fight Breast Cancer Gift Set. Ingredients include water, water-miscible acrylic resins and thickeners, glycol ethers; may contain mica, D&C red lake, ultramarine blue, iron and titanium oxide pigments. The resins are polyacrylic and polyurethane latexes with residual monomers well below 100 parts per million. The acrylic and polyurethane resins are present in the polish in the form of latexes~emulsions in water~very similar in form and function to milk.
The term resin is generic and refers to any polymer which can form a film as it dries. Proteins, cellulose, sugars and DNA are a few natural polymers or resins, none of which are any more or less harmful than the resins used in our polishes. The only co-solvent is diglycol ether. All colorants are FDA-approved for cosmetic use. Sourced and manufactured in the USA.
For best results, please refer to these simple application guidelines:
- If thinning is needed, you may add 1 or 2 drops of water
- Shake polish well
- Make sure hands & feet are clean and dry
- Apply 2-3 thin coats of Piggy Paint
- Allow to air dry for about a minute
- Blow dry polished nails for about a minute with hair dryer set on warm heat/low blower setting (for safety purposes, please follow manufacturer’s instructions when using electrical appliances~we advise against young children handling any electrical appliances).
The hair dryer is not totally necessary. But because our nail polishes are water-based and do not contain harsh chemicals, it takes a bit longer for them to reach their ultimate hardness. Blow drying simply speeds up this process.
