Ubuntu Signature Pendant with Crystal Peace Charm on Rolo Chain

Be charmed with this simply displayed duo~our Oxidized Sterling Silver Pendant and Crystal Studded Peace Sign Charm! Cast pewter is dipped in sterling silver that is then oxidized for a rich finish. The pendant displays six modern and ancient symbols fused together in a statement of unity and harmony. The seventh symbol is a Swarovski crystal studded peace sign charm that dangles along side the pendant. A classic rolo sterling silver chain completes the look of simplicity and quiet style.
The pewter used is recycled from the waste of much larger casting jobs. The content is 95% tin with tiny amounts of copper, antimony, bismuth and silver. Lead content is well under the 300ppm required by law at 100ppm. Dipping or plating is a process that coats the cast pewter in a layer of sterling silver.
When the jewelry is oxidized (aged~giving it more depth), pieces are put into a ceramic tumbler with a liquid made up of a small amount of nitric acid blended with water, a formula the artist has developed over her 23 years designing jewelry. True to her mission of doing good, Nancy recycles the oxidizing liquid first neutralizing it, then sending it through a water purification unit before returning it to the system.

Six symbols include the Taoist Yin Yang, Muslim Star and Crescent, Jewish Star of David, Christian Cross, Gender Equality and Hindu Aum. Separately each symbol has a deep meaning for a group of like-minded people. Individually each symbol is rich in tradition and community, strengthening its members on a personal level. Together along with the peace sign, these symbols express the transformative power of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is the knowledge that no one is whole without the other.
Nancy Epstein is the California-based designer behind Ubuntu Jewelry. All of the pendants, centerpieces and peace signs are handmade in Southern California. Silver chains are rhodium plated sterling silver to keep the silver from tarnishing. Chains and cork straps are made in Asia, Italy and the United States. All findings (clasps, rings, closures) are sterling silver. Final jewelry assembly is in Long Beach, California. USA
