Made in Wisconsin, this greenest of garden tools has an eco-friendly handle that is a mixture of recycled post-industrial-use polypropylene plastic and a super strengthening sustainable fiber from the flax plant. The composite handle is extremely durable and is firmly molded around the blade shaft in a way that the blade cannot work loose. It has a rigid steel neck with a narrow knife-quality self-sharpening tempered steel blade on either edge making it a "must have" for both left and right-handed users.
Once the steel is forged the blade is coated with E-Coat epoxy, a biodegradable organic polymer that provides a tough rust resistant black coating. This coating will eventually wear off in areas of heavy use. However, this process does not diminish its effectiveness and breaks down into benign non-toxic components.
